Since the middle of August I've knit one pair (Simply Splendid Socks by Lucy Newby in stockinette stitch)and two singles -one Simply Splendid in K2P2 Ribbing, the other a Maizy Ruffled Sock. There are two other socks on needles (the first of another pair of Maizys and Ripples from Sockamania). Guess I became compulsive about sock knitting, but they will make great Christmas gifts as long as I do not slow my pace or become victim of the second sock syndrome.

Officially in November I've started one sock for the season. My next challenge - learn how to post pictures.

another newbie

Hi, I just joined this blog, too. I recently finished knitting my very first pair of socks:<a href="http://bp0.blogger.com/_iCk_DuDKvHE/Ry-ps18czeI/AAAAAAAAArQ/YugHHhB6tt0/s1600-h/P1010365.JPG"target="blank"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_iCk_DuDKvHE/Ry-ps18czeI/AAAAAAAAArQ/YugHHhB6tt0/s320/P1010365.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5129505088458247650" />The pattern is from MagKnits; here's the <a href="http://magknits.com/Feb07/patterns/falling.htm"target="blank">link. The yarn was gifted to me from a friend and I'm not sure it even exists anymore but it's called Stahl Wolle Socka Cotton. I enjoyed knitting these socks and like the finished product. I'm working on my second pair of socks and they are not going as well (you can read more about that on <a href="http://knitwithme.blogspot.com/"target="blank">my blog).

Thanks for having me and Happy Knitting!

an intro

hello all, i've just joined the KAL, so i figure i should introduce myself. im Bella, long time knitter, but very recent knitting blogger. sadly, my camera is kaput, so there will be no sock pictures just yet.

currently working on - very basic pair of "non yarn-snob" socks. i guess that needs an explaination, doesnt it? im currently a tad broke, and also moving soon, so between my stash being packed up in boxes and my wallet not allowing me to splurge on the sock yarn i want, i am beginning an experiment in making socks with (gasp!) acrylic yarn (namely Bernat Satin Sport). to get a feel for what TLC's limitations in sock knitting are, the first pair will be terribly basic. pictures to follow soon!

Clarifications on The Contest

I really didn't think that people from outside the blog would read this, so here's the whole deal.

This is my own personal effort to say thank you to the great people belonging to this Knit-Along. I have some lovely skeins from the Opal Hundertwasser collection to offer!

So, being the season of Christmas knitting, I know that some of you might knit fewer socks that normal, while others go into overdrive - so I think it will be most fair that everyone who participates gets 1 chance at the yarn. On January 1st I will write down all user names and the winner will be drawn - I thought about 1 skein per 10 entries (so if 16 people contribute two winners, for 24 three winners, and so on).

Metropolis Socks

OK, only one of these socks counts for Summer. I love the golden colors in these socks, and I named them Golden Tiger -socks.

Number 2:

Worsted weight and quite bulky. I did sign up for one other one - for the one sock I'm currently knitting - so I'm gonna make it a two-fer.

I'm currently working on sock #2 of the Waving Lace socks from the Favorite Socks book (Interweave). I finished the first one over the weekend and I absolutely adore it. I'm currently about halfway thru the leg of sock #2. I would have been done by now, but I was severely distracted for a few days.

I've been doing really well on knitting at least a pair of socks per month since the first of this year. This is actually pair #5, I believe. So I felt that this KAL would be doable for me. You get to knit whatever socks strike your fancy. I find the season directing my selections, but that's not a requirement either.

But, that brings to mind a question for the group... Are you interested in picking one pattern per season that we all try together?

Barbara and/or I will be working on adding links to all participants' blogs (if you have them) into the sidebar soon. Also, I believe we will set up a Flickr group for our pictures. I'll let Barbara explain that as I just set up an account there.

I must admit, I cast on my first 4SaS sock last night - just couldn't wait! But I guess that's already in the title ... so let's define this a bit more!

There are a lot of Knit-Alongs and Challenges out there on the WWW, and now there is one more!

The general thought behind 4 Socks a Season, or 4SaS for short, is to knit 4 socks in three months, or for the hardcore sock knitters out there, knit 4 pairs of socks in three months. And that's it!

"Season" in general is already defined in many ways, and to keep things easy we'll define it here like this:

Spring: April 1st - June 30th
Summer: July 1st - September 30th
Fall: October 1st - December 31st
Winter: January 1st - March 31st

This way you have at least a full week after the astronomical end of one season to finish the last sock!

So what do you need to sign up?
