One pair down

These should have been done a week ago, but I've been battling a nasty bug. I didn't even touch my needles for a couple of days. Pattern: Cookie A.'s Mona done with Louet Gems Crabapple Blossom. And if the socks look strange, it's because I did them toe-up instead of top-down. Just my own little quirk.

2 Pairs Down

Introducing....

Snicket
yarn: Lana Grossa Mega Boots Stretch, color #707

and

Kew
yarn: Lana Grossa Meilenweit Cotton Stretch, color #8319

You will notice on Kew that the stripes start out matching at the cuffs, then go awry near the ankles. I did the one on the left first and carefully pulled out the yarn to start the one on the right in the same place in the color sequence. Then, I ran into a knot! I tried to pull to the same place again, but I misjudged the blue and by the time I realized how far off I was, I was in no mood to frog so the poor dears don't match. I'm sort of ok with it, but I've developed an aversion to self-striping yarn.

Progress

Hi Everyone,

Just thought I'd stop in to update the progress I've made on my KAL socks thus far. Unfortunately because of school, it hasn't been much, but this weekend I am hoping to catch up. I decided for my first pair I would do the Pink Ribbons Socks in the Lorna's Laces Flamingo Stripe.

Happy Knitting everyone!

Hi-De-Ho

My first post here :)

This is like, my first KAL. I did sign up for one other one - for the one sock I'm currently knitting - so I'm gonna make it a two-fer.

I'm currently working on sock #2 of the Waving Lace socks from the Favorite Socks book (Interweave). I finished the first one over the weekend and I absolutely adore it. I'm currently about halfway thru the leg of sock #2. I would have been done by now, but I was severely distracted for a few days.

I've been doing really well on knitting at least a pair of socks per month since the first of this year. This is actually pair #5, I believe. So I felt that this KAL would be doable for me. I've wanted to join one before, but chickened out at the last minute every time.

Thanks for having me! >>>>blog: http://www.damknit.com

Thank you for having me

I just joined this fun blog, what a great idea. My name is Pat (Knitting4fun), married with 2 grown children, 1 still living at home. I both knit and crochet but prefer knitting and I am totally addicted to socks. Handknit socks are all I wear and have finally converted my husband as well.

I cast on a pair of socks a couple of days ago so not sure if I can use them towards my count or not.

Looking forward to seeing everyone's progress and getting to know everyone

Me too!

I just joined and at the same time started my first pair. Actually, they are participating two knit-alongs at the same time - this and another one in Jeanne Townsend's KAL. The pattern is called "Lilac sock", but of course I had to make them from orange Knitpicks :).

I have been knitting constantly for about two years and socks for maybe a year. I've never known something so healthy could be so addicting!

I live in Finland and I'm a librarian. You can see me in my blog http://antitati.blogspot.com , but it's only in Finnish. Must go and start a knitting blog!

My very first socks ( no they don't count for this knitalong)

I was home sick today and finished the socks I'd started before hearing about this knitalong. These are my very first real socks. I did one set of booties in a sock class in March so I'm very excited about having a success. I will soon be able to cast on my first socks for the Spring event.

Introducing myself

Guess I should speak up here - I'm Niki, aka Knitnik. Back on January 1st I had 52 pairs of socks worth of yarn. I knew a pair a week was insane, so I figured on 3 pairs a month. I made it in January and February, but soon realized I was going to kill myself, and cut back to 2 pairs a month. I JUST made it in March, finishing up pair #2 on the 31st. I saw this KAL going and decided it was just right for me! You can check out what I'm doing at http://www.knitnik.com .

Fair Isle socks part II

As promised, my fair isle sock [on Left](the most exciting portion)

If anyone has seen the Paton's acrylic sock yarn (on Right)and wondered what it looked like knitted up... It is a decent alternative to wool but not so great to wear in the summer.

Hi I'm Jules,

Started knitting socks a couple of months ago and am totally addicted. I need no excuses to knit them as family and friends are falling over themselves for a pair knitted just for them *g*

Just about to go and start a new pair now, will check in on my progress soon. Great to see so many fellow sock addicts out there :o)

How fun!

I think this KAL is such a great idea! Thanks, Barbara, for putting it together.

I've been knitting for forever - my big sis taught me when I was about 6. I've been addicted to sock knitting for a couple of years now - maybe longer. I always have at least two socks OTN, right now I have three! I'm looking forward to this!

Hello Everyone

Hi all, I have been knitting for about 2 years, socks almost exclusively this last year. I am looking forward to being a part of this KAL, and meeting some great people. Danna Lynn

Fair Isle socks

Hi All,
I just started learning Fair Isle and have incorporated it into socks. It gives me an excuse to buy yummy Koigu too. I will post a pic once my fair isle cuff is completed (since that is the most exciting portion of it).
Happy Knitting

Glad to be here!

I knit my first pair in November and became totally addicted. Looking forward to seeing all of your beautiful creations.

Yarn!

For your viewing pleasure:

From left to right:
Opal from Barbara which will become a "winter" pair, I think.
Lana Grossa Meileweit Cotton Stretch, to become Kew socks.
Lana Grossa Mega Boot Stretch, already becoming Snicket Socks.

yay!

more motivation to knit socks, not that I needed any. well, I'm Katie and I'm a fairly new sock knitter, but very quickly becoming addicted. I'm halfway through a pair currently and looking forward to this very much. I also have a blog at http://katiesknitting.blogspot.com

Buttons & Blogs

Wow, I never expected to start with that many people signing up - you're all just great!

I just put up all the blog links at the sidebar, from people I don't know their blog URL I just used the URL of this blog (blogger wouldn't let me leave it blank). If your name or blog is not there, spelled incorrectly, or you'd like to have other things changed, please just email me!

I also put up the first tree buttons, if you need help putting them on your blog, just email me, or I can set up a short FAQ page.

The blog buttons are right now hosted at my private homepage, so you can either download them to put them on your blog, or link directly to the buttons. The pics I used for the background are from Stockvault.net, a really great site.

Happy knitting!

Happy "Spring!"

It's the official start of our season, so I thought I should pop over and say hello!

Amy Z: so far there are no official patterns. You get to knit whatever socks strike your fancy. I find the season directing my selections, but that's not a requirement either.

But, that brings to mind a question for the group... Are you interested in picking one pattern per season that we all try together?

Barbara and/or I will be working on adding links to all participants' blogs (if you have them) into the sidebar soon. Also, I believe we will set up a Flickr group for our pictures. I'll let Barbara explain that as I just set up an account there.

I must admit, I cast on my first 4SaS sock last night - just couldn't wait! We'll be traveling in April and not near a computer most of the time so you may not see photos until the end of the month, but I'll update you all when we return!

Happy knitting!
Hello All,

I too am joining and not starting on April 1st. I have my first pair of socks cast on and am just past the heal on one and just ready to join the heal flap on the other so I need to finish those.

I just created a blog today: http://knitting2relax.blogspot.com/ so I still need to learn how to do things, like add buttons. If you want to see pictures of the Cherry Blossoms, hop over and take a peak.

Looking forward to spending more time knitting socks.

P.S. I just figured out how to do buttons!

Hi Everyone!

Just thought I'd say hi too! I won't be starting my KAL socks until Thursday because I have to finish something else before then, but I have lots of sock yarn ready to be made into some comfy socks :-)

I have a blog of my own too -- http://ndjen04.blogspot.com

Happy Knitting everyone!
Ok - I think I am in. I haven't done this before. Do we just knit any 4 socks each season or is there a common pattern that we all work on together? Just curious. I also just set up a blog so if you want to check it out here it is.

Hello!!!!!

I'm here too! I think I'm using all this KAL as an excuse to buy more yarns.... I really enjoy knitting socks- so much that it gets in the way of a lot of things. hehehe. Really, more power to sock knitters!!!

hullo....

I'm here too. :) I need to finish something before I can start.. and the yarn I intend to use next needs to arrive.. but.. I'll keep up, no worries. :)
